Welcome to the 34th Austrian Library Conference!

DEAR COLLEAGUES AND GUESTS OF THE 34TH AUSTRIAN LIBRARY CONFERENCE

It has been ten years, that the Austrian Library Conference took place in Graz. So we are more than happy to extend a cordial invitation and hope to able to welcome you in person. While the general theme is the forward-looking topic “Artificial Intelligence in Libraries”, there will be enough time and space to discuss current issues as well. It is a mutual wish of both hosting organizations - Vereinigung Österreichischer Bibliothekarinnen und Bibliothekare (VÖB) and the Büchereiverband Österreichs (BVÖ) - to offer an agenda displaying a large variety of topics relevant to our profession, while at the same time showing outsiders how deeply we are involved in technological development and its impact on society.

We address ourselves not only to Austrian colleagues from scientific and public libraries but to colleagues from other countries as well. Our intention is to broaden our perspective by an exchange with other disciplines and to try to challenge expectations of the public towards our institutions.

In addition to 100 talks and presentations we have organized a comprehensive company exhibition, a stimulating and entertaining social program in order for you to create a diversified stay at the capital of Styria. We cordially invite you to come and see for yourself in September 2019.

Dr. Werner Schlacher
President of VÖB
Christian Jahl
Chairman of BVÖ
